London Triathlon Renewable Energy Cup

This year's Renewable Energy Challenge which took place on 7th August, lived up to it's name both on and off the track, with injuries, team replacements and a race against the clock to reach the venue in time, but for those who made it to the start line it was all worthwhile.

Centrica fought off competition from from Noble Denton and MatchTech to win this year's team relay in 1 hour and 25 minutes, all the more impressive because their cyclist Ross Ovens had to go that extra mile to take part, completing a journey of  from the Lynne and Inner Dowsing wind farm by boat, taxi, train and tube to make the start line in time. Such commitment deserves a medal in itself!

Professional Iron Man tri-athlete Toby Radcliffe who supported the participants with a weekly trainning blog presented the trophy to the triumphant Centrica team.

In the individual event, last year's winner Simon Peltenburg from RES reigned supreame finishing  in one hour and 21 minutes, closely followed by Brad Currin from Shell International who was competing in his first ever triathlon.
